I want to thank the people who refer me to others because this was one fantastic example of working together. I recently helped to complete a wonderful mural at the CHain of Lakes Community Bible Church. A great girl, Kathy, called and asked me if I would be interested in helping with a project at their church nursery. I will always say that "I will help in anyway that I can"...even if it is to point people in the right direction if it is just way out of my element of talent. This girl had everything together when we met. She knew what she wanted and where. I was given pictures and told all materials would be a donation to the project. I gave her some general direction and told her I would get her going with other volunteers and see this come to life.
I always have a place in my heart for organizations such as churches and schools. So many people see this kind of work and don't know how or who to contact about having it done. I think in a church for me it is a spiritual calling...so far I haven't been able to put a price on that.
I took about 2 weeks from getting all of the images projected and traced out on the wall to having all of the colors filled in. It came out really cute as the theme was "Playschool's Little People Farm". I hope to have all of the pictures up soon...time is crazy in the summer! There were 4 rooms of artwork and more details will be added as they finish the expansion in the nursery but for now the mural work was the one thing Kathy wanted to finish. We all worked hard and I wish I would have gotten the names of all of the "artists" I met. Some had never done anything like this and now are hoping to take what they learned and apply it in their own homes...I can only hope so!
I think i can relate this to that phrase again: Give a person a fish and they eat for a day...but teach a person to fish and they eat for a lifetime...? sewing seeds!
